You Down with ODP, Yeah You Know Me!

Your Hadoop and Big Data game has forever been changed thanks to an unlikely mash-up of:
  • EMC
  • Pivotal
  • VMware
  • Hortonworks
  • GE
  • Infosys
  • IBM
  • SAS
  • Altiscale
  • Capgemeni
  • CenturyLink
  • Teradata
  • Splunk
  • Verizon

These mega-brains created the Open Data Platform (ODP), which is based on Apache Hadoop's core components, and will make Hadoop and Big Data adoption in the enterprise skyrocket.  How will the ODP do it?

What's more is that Pivotal has release some really cool technology into the wild and open-sourced it making enterprise-grade Big Data Suite components available for free, including:
  • GreenPlum - The world-leading analytical MPP data warehouse
  • HAWQ (Hadoop With Query) - 100% ANSI SQL compliant Hadoop analytic engine
  • GemFire - Leading premium NoSQL in-memory database
At the end of the day, we all win because the community (you) gets to contribute into something great and make it even better!  If you want an executive's view on all this goodness check out Chad Sakac's (EMC's President of Global Systems Engineering) blog Virtual Geek.

All this goodness...where do I start?
