Video Spotlight - EMC's "All About Talent"

I was recently given the opportunity to "speak" to the roughly 4000 Global EMC Systems Engineers through a bi-weekly segment called "All About Talent" put together by EMC Human Resources.  The focus was a quick < 2 minute video spotlight with me talking a little about the "who, what, and why" of The Hot Aisle podcast that myself and Brian Carpenter do on a weekly basis.  Below is a screenshot of the email that was sent out:

I am humbled and proud to be an EMC SE and to be able to have this opportunity to spread the nerd word to all my techies out there.  I hope this helps you get to know me a bit more and gets you excited to listen to The Hot Aisle.

EMC VSPEX Blue & Dell VRTX - Blurred Lines

On the heels of Dell World Day 3, I walked away seeing huge potential between Dell & EMC for co-innovations, parlays, collaborations, mash-ups, (you get the idea), but there is also a level of overlap in products that should be considered.  Let me attempt to dig into something that I thought was pretty interesting in the CI/HCI & ROBO space.

Dell World - Key Note - Day 2

Dell World Day 2 and Key Note is in the books and the buzz was palatable.  The seats were packed early, the room chatter was that of curiosity & anticipation, so when Michael Dell came to the stage all iPhones (and some Androids) came out.  As with my Day 1 coverage, I want to hit the high points of what I believe showcases Dell's commitment to the EMC acquisition/merger/partnership/whatever.

Dell World 2015 - Press Conference - Day 1

Dell World 2015 is in full swing and although Michael Dell was lambasted by Analysts/Press/Bloggers/etc regarding the EMC acquisition, plus his hands legally tied due to the 60 day "gag-order", he tackled the 40 minute session with relative finesse. Here is a high-level of what Mr. Dell had to say:

CIFS & Object Combined, Oh My!!!

I recently took the opportunity to try out one of the new solutions that EMC picked-up through the acquisition of TwinStrata  rebranded as CloudArray.  The point here isn’t to give you a deep dive into the product, but instead, show you how to download, install, deploy, and use it to provide a CIFS share using AWS S3 as the object store.  SAY WHAT!?!?! File on object? Yep, that’s essentially what EMC CloudArray does; it gives you (through a virtual or physical appliance) Block (iSCSI) and File (CIFS, NFS, SMB) storage with up to 60TB of local/on-premise cache (see tech specs here) for performance of data that resides in the cloud vendor of your choice.  CloudArray works with 20+ cloud providers like: vCloud Air, AWS, RackSpace, AT&T, Verizon, etc…the theme here is CHOICE.
